Last weekend the generous folks at Smart USA let me test drive a Smart Fortwo Passion Cabriolet. I drove this little car all over Manhattan and was pleasantly surprised with its power, convenience and cache.
I won't bog you down with all of the mechanical specs (head over to the Smart site to read them) but let me tell you... This car is a head turner! Everywhere I went people were rubbernecking to get a second glance of the Smart Fortwo. As I drove through Times Square (which is a nightmare for anyone who lives in NYC) tourists were taking cell phone pictures of the car, and a delivery truck driver even yelled to me out of his window to ask if I liked the car. I did, very much.

The interior is stylish and surprisingly roomy considering the overall compact size of the car. The spacious seating, huge windows and convertible roof (ya, the whole roof goes away) left me comfy while forgetting that my ride was about half the size as every one else's.
Bottom line: Green is the new black. You don't need a giant gas-guzzling Hummer to get noticed. The Smart Fortwo barely used any gasoline for the four days I had it and easily whipped around the city streets.
And for those of you who don't live in NYC, I took the Smart Fortwo out onto the highway and felt completely safe and secure. Granted the small cargo area wouldn't serve well for any long distance vacations, but is perfect for running a few errands or a quick trip to the beach
My friend and I filmed our Sunday travels in the Smart, so feel free to watch our video of the test drive and share your thoughts.

Courtney Cox Arquette and Jennifer Aniston did their girlfriend getaway in Hawaii recently.
My BFF and fellow beauty editor, Aly Walansky, and I, on the other hand, vacay in ... Montauk. (We like to think we're just as fab as the famous Friends--teehee!) Our new favorite resort: Montauk Yacht Club, located on 32 Star Island Road in Montauk, NY.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the super-friendly staff. The tranquil feel of the entire property never left us for a moment. We knew at an instant that the four-hour drive (with traffic and all) was worth it.
Our room opened up to a balcony overlooking the gorgeous ocean. Steps away from the sand, we sunned by the water with pina coladas in hand. It was heaven!
And, it wouldn't be a girlfriend getaway without a much-needed visit to the spa, where they offer signature treatments like beach body massages, yachter's massages and detox and depart massages. You'll also find the usual on their spa menu: massages, facials and body treatments--oh my! We each went with the detox and depart--it was the most relaxed we've been in a long-blogging while.
After our spa treatments, we indulged in a glorious Cajun/Cuban/Mexican-inspired dinner at the on-site Gulf Coast Kitchen, which serves lunch, dinner and bar fare. While our appetizers and entrees delighted us, they were no match for the spicy brownie sundae. We're still talking about the dessert to this day.
But, what really made the trip so superb (not to mention, so girly) is all of the lounging and chit-chatting. The Montauk Yacht Club had great spaces where you and your fabulous gal pals can sit, people-watch and relax. If you're ever in the area, we suggest you check it out! And, let us know! Maybe can meet up!
