According to the New Life Journal, facials regulate the immune system. And during the onslaught of weather changes and flu season, we need all the help we can get! The benefits of facials really do go hand-in-hand with your overall health. Getting one on a regular basis aids in detoxification (yes, get rid of yucky bacteria), reduces fluid build-up in the body and aids in stress relief.

In addition, facials that involve massages especially, aid in blood circulation, lymphatic drainage and relaxation of the facial muscles (which slows down the process of wrinkles). Skin cells are also renewed by doing so--no more sagging face and puffiness! Woo! It keeps you healthier (and younger-looking).

Although none of us look a day over 23 (the benefits of having Asian skin, I suppose), my sister Iris, cousin Gladys and I still needed to de-stress--we have been so crazed at work, it's been long overdue. We paid a visit to Simply Face & Body, a high-quality day spa--minus the high price tag--in Ramsey, NJ for much-needed facials and massages. After a couple of hours of pampering, we left the spa feeling ... like we were floating on clouds. Simply Face & Body's ambiance--from its lobby to its spa spaces--is just as soothing as the treatments offered. I have to say--I get a facial once a month at various spas--and the best one yet has been at Simply Face & Body. Seriously! Although customers aren't paying triple digits per facial or massage, it's as if you're getting the most lux service you can find.

First-time visitors pay only $49 for a facial or massage. You can't beat that for a treatment that is as lux as you'd find at a grand resort or spa. If you become a member, you pay $59 monthly, which entitles you to one free facial or massage every month (which rolls over to the next month if you don't use it). Membership also gives you lower prices for other treatments at Simply Face & Body (which includes waxing!!!) and 15 percent off retail products they sell at the location. Members can also use the spa space for free for private parties. Spa day, anyone?

If you're not in the area, fingers crossed they open one near you--it's simply divine! Have a day spa near you that you love? Tell us about it--comment away!

Courtney Cox Arquette and Jennifer Aniston did their girlfriend getaway in Hawaii recently.

My BFF and fellow beauty editor, Aly Walansky, and I, on the other hand, vacay in ... Montauk. (We like to think we're just as fab as the famous Friends--teehee!) Our new favorite resort: Montauk Yacht Club, located on 32 Star Island Road in Montauk, NY.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the super-friendly staff. The tranquil feel of the entire property never left us for a moment. We knew at an instant that the four-hour drive (with traffic and all) was worth it.

Our room opened up to a balcony overlooking the gorgeous ocean. Steps away from the sand, we sunned by the water with pina coladas in hand. It was heaven!

And, it wouldn't be a girlfriend getaway without a much-needed visit to the spa, where they offer signature treatments like beach body massages, yachter's massages and detox and depart massages. You'll also find the usual on their spa menu: massages, facials and body treatments--oh my! We each went with the detox and depart--it was the most relaxed we've been in a long-blogging while.

After our spa treatments, we indulged in a glorious Cajun/Cuban/Mexican-inspired dinner at the on-site Gulf Coast Kitchen, which serves lunch, dinner and bar fare. While our appetizers and entrees delighted us, they were no match for the spicy brownie sundae. We're still talking about the dessert to this day.

But, what really made the trip so superb (not to mention, so girly) is all of the lounging and chit-chatting. The Montauk Yacht Club had great spaces where you and your fabulous gal pals can sit, people-watch and relax. If you're ever in the area, we suggest you check it out! And, let us know! Maybe can meet up!

mail.jpegThis time, I was in Brooklyn. I didn't necessarily want a treatment this time around though -- I just needed a relaxing day. I went to Body by Brooklyn, located on Park Avenue in Clinton Hill, and what a great time.

For $44, you can use their wet lounge for the entire day for its therapeutic benefits, which features a Swedish sauna, Russian sauna, Turkish aroma steam room, thermal hot tub, cold plunge pool and power shower -- the best water experiences I've ever had.

Robes, towels, slippers and private lockers are provided. Just come in a bathing suit and you're all set. No need to call ahead to schedule an appointment. You just walk in and revive.

This certainly beats paying the big bucks to stay at a four-class resort. So if you're able to trek over to Brooklyn for a much-needed spa day, visit BodyByBrooklyn.com for more info.

55915375.jpgAnd, I'm not talking about DIY.

The other day I had the most amazing facial at Simply Face & Body in Ramsey, NJ. Mind you, I've been spa'ing for ... years! And get this -- it only cost $49! The spa boutique's unique concept is all about offering clients high-quality service, convenience and doing so on a budget. There isn't a wet lounge of jacuzzis and steam rooms, so you just walk in, get your treatment, and leave.

Here's how it works: First-timers pay $49 for their first treatment (facial or massage). Then, if you become a member, all you have to do is pay $59 a month and that will entitle you to one treatment a month (again, either facial or massage). Then, every facial or massage in addition to that will only cost you $49. The best part is, if you don't use your one monthly treatment, it rolls over. As a member, you'll also get a 15 percent off on lots of organic products they sell onsite and discounts on the waxing services they offer.

It's really a sweet deal especially during economic times like this. So if you're in the North Jersey area and want a convenient spa experience, visit Simply Face & Body located at 39 Interstate Shopping Center in Ramsey, NJ. For more information, go to SimplyFaceandBody.com.
