What's the big deal? She looks like a mom out with her kids. Wouldn't these same complainers be saying stuff if she showed up in designer duds?

First off, I think Michelle looks great in her shorts. They're nothing wrong with her shorts. Everyone is comparing her to former first ladies and if you really take a look all of the first ladies they are in their late 50's or early 60's 70's. Michelle is only 45yrs old, she is still young. Michelle & Barack Obama are down to earth they are not being all stuck up & forgetting where they came from. MICHELLE & BARACK KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

I agree that it is no big deal about Michelle Obama wearing shorts. She wore them on vacation with her family. It was not like she wore shorts to a business meeting or church. Mrs. Obama is a woman just like the rest of us on her free time. People need to not be so stuffy and recognize that they are ordinary people when spending family time just like any other american. Give her a break! I am sure a designer dress and 3 inch heels are not appropriate for the Grand Canyon... what do people to expect when she works out? We all want to be comfortable- she is also entitled.

I am sorry, but First Lady should show class 24/7. She doesn't have class and obviously doesn't have money or brain to hire someone that can teach her how to dress. The rest of the world is laughing at Americans already for not having any fashion taste, class and not knowing how to dress. Now, First Lady just confirms that money can't buy class, you either have it or learn it.

I know, she is a mom, but First Lady is not an average mom, the jobs comes with being watched by the public all the time. Nancy Reagan has a class and you would never see her wearing shorts. Michelle Obama doesn't have legs to show - she should never wear shorts or shirts above her knees.

Even Hilary dresses better than Michelle.

she's human just like the rest of us. I like both Mr & Mrs Obama, they are very down to earth, who enjoys normal things we do, too ... So what if other 'people' thinks she doesn't have class ... the most important thing is that she spends the quality time with her kids like any other mom would do. These are things that you shouldn't sacrifice just because you're the First lady ....

She is also a mother, that is also a priority!! That's how a family should be brought up .... Are there supposed to be rules of how to bring up your family just because you are the First lady?

They'd both be very ugly first ladies. Hopefully I don't see either happen.

The only people that are making negative comments are the press, the ones that didn't vote for her husband, and the jealous ladies that can't look as good wearing these type of shorts and anything that Michelle Obama wears. Get real, do you think she cares about the negative things people say about her or her husband? Save that breath for something positive.

The only comments I've heard, or read, about the First Lady wearing shorts have been like this article. Someone writes a story saying that "some people" are giving the First Lady crap about wearing shorts. I have yet to hear or read anything from anyone who actually has a problem with this! Where are these supposed critics? Is there really so little to report on that we have to worry about whether Michelle Obama wears shorts!?! She's a mom! I've not heard anything about this either...however...I agree that the "First Lady" that represents our country to all other countries worldwide should not wear shorts.

Many of you posting that it's not a big deal may or may not be aware that in many other countries...women are not allowed to wear shorts. We do here yes but remember she is representing a powerful position and commands respect.

You'd never see Hilary in a pair of shorts and she was the same age when she was first lady. Queen Elizabeth, Princess Diana, Maria Shiver even?? It's a class thing.

If she wants to wear shorts that is fine ...wait until after you are not in the "First Lady of The United States of America" role. This is not a movie ...this is real life...they are not actors ...this is real life. People seem to forget that.

Totally agree! even in London, we have heard about everyone getting obsessed with what Mrs Obama is wearing, like you say give her a break, so what if she wants to rock on a pair of shorts, still think she pulls them off!
