For the Love of ... Shoes

ysoltshoes.jpgEven when rent is due, even when the refrigerator needs to be stocked, even when I'm strapped for cash, I can't help but feed my shoe closet. Yes, I have a walk-in closet dedicated to my shoes. (I think it's supposed to be a pantry—but whatev, I don't really cook.) I'm sure most of you share the same footwear obsession.

They say all women adore shoes because no matter their size and/or shape, they always manage to look hot. Ummm, I beg to differ. I think we love shoes because not only is a pair—the right pair, that is—a defining sense of self, they remind us that we have choices.

Looking back at the first "real" job I got after college, I can't even recall what my first assignment was or how much they were paying me. But what I do remember was how it felt when I bought those gorgeous Cynthia Rowley heels with my first pay check.

Maybe I'm just going off in a tangent here, but other women share the shoe sentiment. They do! Enter: ShoeTube.tv, an up-and-coming community for shoe lovers. (So haters, step off!) Check it out, ladies, and read/share/enjoy shoe stories. You're not alone in your love for footwear.

So what's your shoe story?

I too am a shoe-a-holic. My husband had to build extra shelves in his closet when we first moved in together to hold both our shoes---now the closet is dedicated to my shoes only. I always feel that shoes are kind of like a mood ring. You wear on your feel how you feel that day. Good article!

I am with you on the shoe addiction. I lost count on how many pairs I have and it will still keep growing. Shoes do represent ones personality...its like when you find the right pair...you just know it feels right. Have you ever looked at someones shoes and sort of already knew their personality type? I have at least...maybe that's because I am shoe obsessed.

Soooo envious of your walk-in shoe closet! I've got a bookshelf that I converted to a shoe shelf and I'm running out of room. You've prompted me to investigate converting my pantry. :-)

hello, my name is _____ and I'm a shoe-a-holic. My obsession with shoes started in my high school days buying every new pair of sneakers from Foot Locker. This then evolved into the Sex and the City days when my obsession took me to new depths in appreciating designer footwear. Some of my guy friends are also obsessed with shoes. Don't let them fool you by saying it's only women who are shoe-holics... I've seen their closets and I've stopped counting after the 10th Nike box!

How can one hate shoes? What are you wearing on your feet? Brown paper bags? I don't know about you, but being frumpy should not be an option and you need shoes to keep you fabulous looking!

As a nurse I don't get to wear nice shoes all that often. Don't get me wrong, I love wearing super comfy scrubs all day and my shoes have to be comfortable/give good support since I'm on my feet all day. It's just that the shoes that are good for our feet tend to be not so preety. Kind of like vegtables. They're good for you but don't taste as good as cake(heels).
Another sad observation I've had is as much as I love the look of my feet in heels, I can't walk in them. My feet are so used to flats that the arch of the heel is awkward. Sigh....
So, wish my feet and my job would let me wear gorgeous heels all the time, because they just look so damn good!

I am shoe obsessed and I love my shoes.
